Botox® & Dysport®

Botox® & Dysport® are neuromodulators used to temporarily prevent movement in certain facial muscles, smoothing those lines and wrinkles over time. Injections are usually placed between the brows, forehead and around the eyes, allowing the rest of your face to move naturally.

The procedures only take a few minutes but it can take a few days for the effects to be noticeable and a full two weeks before the Botox or Dysport has taken effect completely. Gradually, over three to five months the effect will fade, and the muscle action will return. When the lines start to reappear, the treatment should be repeated to maintain the desired result.

Excessive Underarm Sweating – Because Botox inactivates the signal to sweat glands it has been used successfully to control axillary hyperhidrosis, excessive underarm perspiration. Several injections of Botox are done at the predetermined sites of excessive sweat gland activity. The majority of underarm perspiration is stopped within 48 hours in most cases and the control of excessive perspiration typically lasts five to seven months. As with wrinkle treatment, the effect is localized to the specific sites of Botox treatment.

Fillers

Dermal fillers restore fullness to the face and hands. These injectable fillers superficially smooth wrinkles by filling the area of concern. For example, dermal fillers treat volume loss to cheeks, plump lips and fill smile lines around the mouth, including down-turning of the corners of the mouth. Results are noticed immediately after treatment.
Restylane®
The FDA-approved clear transparent gel is composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found throughout the body. This gel is not of animal or human origin, so there is no risk of allergic reaction.

 With its unique ability to bind with water, Restylane® dermal filler remains supportive and corrective in the skin for many months.
Sculptra®
Sculptra is a collagen stimulator that helps restore the deep underlying structure of the skin to diminish wrinkles. Sculptra works with your body to help revitalize collagen production and restore your skin’s inner structure and volume. Results appear gradually and can last up to two years.

The number of injection appointments and the number of injections per appointment varies by individual, depending on how much collagen has been lost. On average, three injection appointments are needed over a period of a few months.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face to smooth texture, reduce scarring, decrease melasma and remove blemishes and pre-cancerous growths—producing healthy, glowing skin. There are several types of chemical peels—ranging from mild to strong, and formula strengths are tailored to each patient. Peels can be combined with other procedures, such as laser treatments, for a younger look.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is becoming more popular across all medical specialties due to its contribution in tissue recovery and healing. PRP comes from your blood and is completely natural so there’s no danger of an adverse reaction to the serum.

At Cooper Clinic Dermatology, we use PRP to help with healing after laser treatments and for patients dealing with hair loss.

For healing following laser treatments, it’s considered an add-on to your procedure. Your blood is drawn, then spun down to separate it, giving us the PRP. The serum is then applied to the lasered area to help decrease redness and swelling and promote healing.

For hair loss, the PRP is injected into the scalp where the hair loss is occurring. Depending on the extent of hair loss, multiple treatments four to six weeks apart may be recommended. There are some medical conditions that are a contraindication for use of PRP, so a consult is required before treatment.
