Disease Management Program
Research shows lifestyle changes such as becoming physically active and eating a healthy diet can reduce the risk for developing many chronic diseases and can also help manage health conditions. Increasing flexibility and strength, building bone mass, and controlling weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol are some key health factors that can be addressed through lifestyle changes.
The Female Focus program can help women treat and manage the following health issues:
- Osteoporosis
- Arthritis/Fibromyalgia
- Heart Disease
- Diabetes
- Cancer
Plus, the program provides training to help women stay Fit After 40.
Program Components
Each participant receives individualized attention to her personal health needs. In addition, group sessions reinforce and encourage healthy lifestyle choices. The program is four weeks and includes:
- Functional Assessment and Corrective Exercise Session. This evaluation reveals the body’s musculoskeletal imbalances and weak areas. Once these issues are identified the trainer will recommend specific corrective exercises to strengthen weak areas, increase range of motion and reduce the risk of injury.
- Group Lecture. Fitness and nutrition experts provide lectures focusing on proper weight training, cardiovascular exercise, daily activity and nutrition as it relates to the program’s health topics.
- Eight Group Training Sessions (two each week). A strength and flexibility training program is designed appropriate to each individual's goals.
- Four-Week Cooper Fitness Center Membership. Includes full access to facility and group exercise classes.
Program Dates
A new program begins every two weeks. Sessions are held Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and they last 55 minutes.
Early morning and evening classes are also available.
Program Fee
Member and non-member pricing is available. After the initial four-week program, participants who wish to continue the program may do so at a reduced monthly rate.
