Skin Cancer Screening – a meticulous head-to-toe examination to screen for cancers, precancers, and atypical moles. Information regarding sun exposure, sun protection, and family history of skin cancer will also be asked.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. More than 1 million new cases are diagnosed each year and approximately 10,000 Americans die each year from the disease. At Cooper Clinic at Craig Ranch we recommend all patients have regular screenings.

Mole Removal – the removal of flesh-colored or dark moles on the face and other areas of the body for skin cancer prevention and early detection and cosmetic reasons.

We specialize in the removal of unwanted moles utilizing gentle numbing and meticulous surface removal without the need for stitches in most cases. The immediate appearance is that of a prominent superficial scratch, and rapid healing is typical with little to no scarring and no signs of stitching.

All moles removed are submitted to the pathologist. If the biopsied mole shows signs of health-threatening changes, further surgery may be required.

FotoFacial (photo rejuvenation) – uses intense pulsed light to repair aging and sun damage changes affecting the skin. With the flash of light on the skin, gentle and almost invisible fading of discolored skin, age spots, and textural irregularities takes place with no down time. Unlike harsher treatments, which cause significant skin irritation, photo rejuvenation gently reduces the dull, rough appearance of the skin on the face, neck, chest, shoulders, back of hands, and forearms. As a result, the skin is also typically softer due to the positive texture changes from new collagen formation.

Photo rejuvenation can also be used to remove spider veins through a gradual and gentle process over several weeks. Within a few treatments, patients see softer, smoother skin with more even skin tones.    Before and After Photos

PDT FotoFacial – a new method to simultaneously treat severe sun damage with pre-cancers and cosmetically enhance the skin (reducing sun damage red and brown spots and leathery appearing skin). A photosensitizing liquid is applied to the skin and left on for about 45 minutes. Then intense pulsed light is applied, which leads to a precise and controlled destruction of the pre-cancerous cells. At the same time, the technique also corrects sun damaged skin resulting in more youthful-looking skin, typically in just three to four treatments.

Vasculight – a laser used to treat darkness under the eyes and certain qualified vascular lesions. Dr. Wilson was the first physician in Texas to use and teach others about this significant laser application. Treatment involves pulses of intense light, similar to the flash of a camera.

There may be some short-term side effects of this technique including slight reddening of the skin or local swelling, which goes away within one to two days, temporary bruising, and in rare instances some blistering.

BOTOX® – BOTOX®, botulinum toxin type A, is a purified protein that blocks impulses to muscles and sweat glands. It has been in medical use for nearly three decades beginning with ophthalmologists and neurologists, and BOTOX® Cosmetic was FDA-approved for certain indications in 2002.
  Cosmetic Applications
BOTOX® has been approved for the treatment of frown lines and is also used for forehead wrinkles, crows feet, and neck folds.By using extremely small doses of BOTOX® injected directly into a specific muscle, only the ability of that muscle to contract will be inactivated. Therefore, the problem that muscles cause, such as a twitch, spasm, or frown line, will be stopped.

The actual treatment takes only a few minutes and BOTOX® takes effect in three to four days. Gradually over three to five months the effect will fade, and the muscle action will return. When the lines start to reappear, the treatment can be repeated to maintain the desired result.

The side effects of BOTOX® are related to the local injection of the solution. There will be a slight discomfort from the needle entering the skin, and a small chance of a bruise at the site of injection. There have been no permanent side effects from the use of BOTOX®. Approximately 1 percent of patients will develop a slight lowering or ptosis of one eyelid. This is temporary and may not even be noticed by the patient.    Before and After Photos

BOTOX® for Excessive Underarm Sweating
Because BOTOX® inactivates the signal to sweat glands, it has been used successfully to control axillary hyperhidrosis, excessive underarm perspiration. Several injections of BOTOX® are done at the predetermined sites of excessive sweat gland activity. The majority of underarm perspiration is stopped within 48 hours in most cases and the control of excessive perspiration typically lasts five to seven months. As with wrinkle treatment, the effect is localized to the specific sites of BOTOX® treatment.

Chemical Peels – a technique to remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face to smooth texture, reduce scarring, and remove blemishes and pre-cancerous growths to produce healthy, glowing skin. There are three types of chemical peels – ranging from mild to strong, alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), tricholoroacetic acid (TCA), and phenol – and formula strengths are tailored to each patient. Peels can be combined with other procedures such as facelifts for a younger look.

Dermal Fillers – injectable fillers that restore fullness to the face and hands. They fall into two basic categories of applications – 1) those that superficially smooth wrinkles, sculpt lips, and shape facial contours; and 2) cosmetic fillers used to lift and volumize skin around the temples, thinning cheeks, and backs of hands.
Restylane®, Juvéderm™, and Perlane® are primary examples of fillers used more superficially to treat the frown lines between the eyebrows and smile lines around the mouth, including down-turning of the corners of the mouth. The FDA-approved clear transparent gels are composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found throughout the body. This gel is not of animal or human origin, so there is no risk of allergic reaction. With their unique ability to bind with water, Restylane®, Juvéderm™, and Perlane® remain supportive and corrective in the skin for many months.    Before and After Photos

Sculptra™ is a cosmetic filler used to thicken the skin where significant thinning has taken place due to volume loss. Its injection actually stimulates the skin to make its own collagen over a period of several months. Sculptra™ tends to lift and volumize the thinning skin of the cheeks, chin, and temples. While its positive cosmetic benefits may take a while to be visible, the correction achieved tends to last much longer than other fillers, often two to four years. Sculptra™ is a synthetic filler with no allergic tendencies.

Varicose Vein Laser Closure – Cool Touch Endovenous (CTEV) closure is the newest and gentlest laser in-office procedure for closing varicose veins. The remarkable procedure is performed with a 1320 YAG laser. It thankfully precludes the need for and takes the place of vein stripping, which is known for terrible bruising, significant pain, and prolonged healing of many weeks. CTEV patients do not experience large, ugly scars, expansive bruising, or the long down time and pain for which vein stripping is infamous. Also, no general anesthesia is required and patients typically return to their normal activities within three to four days.

Ambulatory Phlebectomy – a sophisticated form of removing large varicose veins utilizing a special local anesthesia technique and tiny incisions. This in-office procedure allows patients to forego the need for general anesthesia that is required with vein stripping. Patients do not experience the large ugly scars, significant bruising, and long healing down time caused by vein stripping.    Before and After Photos

Sclerotherapy – the "gold standard" for treatment of spider veins and selected small varicose veins by the American College of Phlebology. This proven technique works to keep the legs free of spider veins and often relieves related symptoms of aching, tiredness, and pressure. Through technology advancements, the procedure is significantly more effective in vein repair/correction without the significant pain saline (salt water) sclerotherapy causes.

Sclerotherapy is performed with a tiny needle, which ensures essentially painless treatment with closure and fading of the unwanted spider veins typically in three to five treatments. There is no post-procedure down time, and patients report little to no discomfort after the procedure.

Dr. Wilson has more than 20 years experience performing injection sclerotherapy.
Before and After Photos

Prominent Chest and Breast Vein Treatment – specialized sclerotherapy and/or laser treatment techniques used to reduce the appearance of prominent dark veins on the chest and breast that are common in women, especially those who have undergone breast augmentation. Typically the appearance of the prominent veins is dramatically reduced after only two to three 20-minute treatment sessions.    Before and After Photos

Hand Rejuvenation – Various treatments are available to reduce the appearance of brown spots, prominent veins, and the thinning of the skin, which makes veins and tendons more visible. Through natural aging and exposure to the elements, hands are one of the first places on the body to show the visible signs of aging. Hand rejuvenation treatments may include intense pulsed light treatments for the brown discoloration plus filler injections that dramatically reduce the appearance of veins and tendons. Satisfied patients often report their hands look 10 to 15 years younger.    Before and After Photos
