Nutrition Tip of the Week |
|
Mealtime Pastimes = Overeating?
Have you ever been to a movie, ordered popcorn and finished
the popcorn before even a quarter of the movie was over? Research
has shown that individuals who become preoccupied during mealtimes,
such as with watching television or a movie, may be consuming
far more calories than the non-distracted eater.. In one study,
women listening to a detective story consumed significantly
more calories during their meal compared to when they maintained
focus only on the food they were ingesting. So, consider making
mealtime an activity where you sit down at the table, not
stand and eat, and eliminate the pastime distractions. You
may find that not only do you eat fewer calories, but you
may easily shed a few pounds too.
