Vitamin K |
|
Vitamin K is a nutrient found in the small intestine where it combines with protein to facilitate blood clotting. Vitamin K is also necessary for the synthesis of proteins found in plasma, bone, and the kidneys. A prospective study of vitamin K intake and hip fractures found that low intakes of vitamin K might increase the risk of hip fracture in women (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1999).
