Imaging

Today, many radiology procedures are commonly used to screen for disease. For example, a mammogram is the first level of screening for breast cancer. A chest X-ray is used to look for heart disease and lung cancer.

In addition to these and other standard radiology services, we offer the latest CT technology—multi-detector CT scans (MDCT)—for more in-depth diagnostic evaluation.

Based on your age, gender, medical history, and exam findings, some radiology procedures may be included in your comprehensive Cooper Clinic exam. Our radiology services are also available to individuals with a physician’s referral.

Digital Mammogram of the breasts can detect early signs of breast cancer.

Osteoporosis/Bone Density Screening, performed by a DEXA machine, is a low-radiation assessment of the density (or calcium content) of the bones of the spine and hip.

Multi-Detector CT Scan (MDCT) is the latest CT imaging technology used to detect vascular calcification and abnormalities, before symptoms occur in many cases. The 3-D images of the heart are assessed for build up of calcium in the arteries and other risk factors for heart disease. The MDCT scan may also detect early cancers and other diseases in the chest and abdomen regions.

Heart only CT scans and lung scans, as well as CT angiography, can be performed when clinically indicated.

CT Colonography (Virtual Colonoscopy) is a minimally invasive exam for the early detection and prevention of colon cancer. The MDCT scanner is used for this screening.
