Health Enhancement

Cooper Corporate Solutions believes that the best way to enhance individual health is through research-based intervention programs.  These programs are incorporated into a customized wellness program.

Weight Management Program
The 10-12 week Cooper Weight Loss Program combines psychological, behavioral, nutrition, and fitness intervention techniques into a comprehensive program. Participants attend weekly on-site group classes led by psychologists, licensed counselors, and registered dietitians with expertise in behavioral modification and skill building. Rather than giving a specific diet or exercise plan, the scientifically-supported curriculum teaches skills and helps participants identify barriers to health behavior change.

Treatment begins with helping participants learn the principles of energy balance and their personal calorie and activity needs. Specific cognitive and behavioral skills proven to facilitate change are then taught through didactic and experiential teaching techniques. Participants are asked to weigh weekly and complete diet and activity logs. Discussions about personal barriers will be facilitated during group sessions, and problem-solving strategies will be used to help participants make needed changes. Specific skills presented in group may include the following:

  • Benefits and barriers
  • Taking control of triggers
  • Managing hunger and fullness
  • Positive thinking
  • “Healthy” social support

Active Living Everyday
This is the only book that offers a 20-week, self-paced plan to help readers become more physically active—without requiring vigorous exercise to see results. The concepts presented in this book can be used anytime, anywhere. Participants choose what form of activity they enjoy the most; from dancing to walking to yard work, it’s up to them—whatever keeps them moving and off the couch. This is not a quick fix, but rather a behavioral change approach used by the world-renowned research team at The Cooper Institute and researchers at Brown University. The principles and program methods are based on extensive research and clinical tests and have been proven effective for adults of all ages. With lots of easy-to-follow advice, charts, forms, and checklists—Active Living Every Day shows how to overcome the barriers to being physically active and enjoy a lifetime of good health, a fit body, and effective weight control.

Healthy Eating Everyday

This practical, research-based strategy addresses the root causes of unhealthy eating, and teaches using tools to succeed in eating better. In Healthy Eating Every Day, you’ll discover how to choose the right balance of the right foods for optimal health, set realistic goals and rewards, and cope with triggers for unhealthy eating. Other helpful lessons include:

  • Keep healthy eating in mind while shopping for food
  • Eat well when dining out or away from home
  • Make sense of nutrition information and diet product claims

Fad diets offer only short-term results that often do more harm than good. Healthy Eating Every Day is a sensible, step-by-step lifetime plan that works.

Steps to Better Health
Consistent research shows that moving from inactivity to just 30 minutes of walking each day results in tremendous health benefits.  Pedometers are a great way of measuring daily steps in an effort to motivate users to begin and maintain regular physical activity. Steps to Better Health is a walking handbook, developed by The Cooper Institute, as an educational tool to support and enhance the use of pedometers among adults and children. The booklet is easy to understand and provides a daily activity log.
