Monthly nutrition lectures and cooking demonstrations are presented by Cindy Kleckner, R.D., L.D., at Cooper Aerobics Center at Craig Ranch.

July 10 and 29, 6-8 p.m.
Harvesting fresh fruits and vegetables from the garden or buying them at the farmers market is what summer's all about. Join Cindy as she shares recipes and tips to make simple weeknight suppers that are pleasing to the eyes and taste buds.

Wok Around the Kitchen: Asian Cooking
Aug. 7 and 26, 6-8 p.m.
Learn about culinary trends while diving into the Asian pantry. Cindy will make piquant sauces using Asian staples such as fresh ginger, sesame oil, lemongrass, rice-wine vinegar, and colorful vegetables. She'll also discuss the fundamentals of stir frying and one of today's hottest culinary topics - umami.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: Dining Out Sensibly on the Road
July 15, 6-7 p.m.
From the airplane runway to the state fair midway to the fast food turnstiles, we have many eating habits that negatively impact our health. Unpredictable eating can cause unwanted weight gain, insomnia, and low energy levels. Cindy will discuss defensive dining strategies for the road warrior or those who have a hobby trying new restaurants.

Portion Savvy: Why Bigger Isn't Better
Aug. 12, 6-7 p.m.
Bigger isn't always better. The seductive dishes displayed on menus and television screens create an environment that pressures us to practice unhealthy eating habits. Maintaining a healthy weight means eating the right foods in the right amounts. Learn what it means to eat large, but not large portions.
