Fitness Center Summer Camps


Camp Necessities:
1) All campers should wear shorts and short-sleeve shirts.
2) Bug spray
3) A bottle of water
4) Sunscreen

Registration Options:
1) Online. We are using a new online registration system this year. Use the following links to register.

First-Time 2008 Registration – First, complete the online information form (including contact information and payment information). Upon completion of the form, you will be able to view online the camp schedule and register your child for the specific camps he or she is interested in. You will receive a separate confirmation e-mail for each session you enroll your child in.

YOUTH FIT CAMP
 

Ages 6-12

Campers enjoy a variety of fun and entertaining activities, all focused on a healthy lifestyle. Activities include swimming, recreational games, arts and crafts, weekly fitness and nutrition talks, rock climbing, Sport Wall relays, fitness classes, and much more. Campers are asked to bring swimsuits, towels, sunscreen, and a water bottle. Box lunches will be provided for all campers. (Your child must be at least 6 years old as of Sept. 1, 2008.)

Camp Times
One week, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Half days are also available: 9 a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m. Extended care hours are offered, 7:30-9 a.m. and 4-5:30 p.m., for an additional $50 per week.

NEW IN 2008 – FIT FIVES CAMP
 

Age 5

Our new pint-sized camp offers five-year-olds the chance to participate in numerous activities. Fit Fives teaches kids about teamwork and how to perform simple fitness exercises to stay healthy. Activities include gymnastics, basketball, Sport Wall relays, motor development, and relay races. (Your child must be 5 years old as of Sept. 1, 2008.)

BASKETBALL CAMP

Ages 7-14

Level 1
Designed to help children improve shooting, dribbling, ball handling, passing, defense strategies and more, this camp is for those with little or no previous instruction or kids who want a refresher on basketball basics. Students receive a camp T-shirt.

Level 2
This camp is for children who can demonstrate their understanding and mastery of the fundamentals and who are looking to further improve their skills. It is suitable for students who have played on or are playing on a team. Each student receives a camp T-shirt.

TENNIS CAMP

Ages 7-14

Level 1
Recommended for children who have had little or no previous tennis instruction. This camp teaches the basic strokes including backhand, forehand, serve, overhead, and volley. Once the basic techniques are understood, campers learn how to use them in games. Students receive a camp T-shirt.

Level 2
For students who have had previous instruction and experience in playing tennis, this camp focuses on game strategies, speed, and agility drills and teaches other useful information about the game. Students should be able to demonstrate their grasp of the fundamentals. Students receive a camp T-shirt.

One week, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-noon
Note: In the event of inclement weather, camp will be held indoors.

VOLLEYBALL CAMP

Ages 7-14

Level 1
This camp teaches the fundamentals of volleyball, such as passing, hitting, setting, and serving, and is for those who have had little or no previous instruction. Campers will be exposed to court positions, rotations, and basic strategies of the game. Students receive a camp T-shirt.

Level 2
This camp is for athletes who have participated on a team and want to continue to improve their skills. Specific hitting and serving strategies will be taught as well as blocking and court placements. Each student receives a camp T-shirt.

NEW IN 2008 – RUNNING CAMP

Ages 11-14

This camp teaches the fundamentals of high-performance running and racing. Campers learn about different types of training, proper running form, run-specific strength training, and proper nutrition. The students leave camp with a personalized running program and a video analysis.

COOPER SWIM ACADEMY

Ages 3-12

Cooper Swim Academy teaches swimming and water-safety skills in a controlled, nurturing, and enjoyable environment. Eight levels of instruction are offered, and the lessons are presented in logical progression appropriate to the age and skill level of the student.
