This behavior modification program gives you proven tools to help you live—as Dr. Cooper likes to say—a long and healthy life to the fullest. When you spend five days with us, your customized plan is built around these life-enhancing components:

Healthy Behaviors
We will help you achieve total well-being by teaching you how to make lasting behavioral changes. Through a variety of lectures and workshops by our team of experts, you’ll learn how to set goals, the importance of preventing illness through lifestyle choices and healthy ways to change your life from losing weight to coping with stress. Topics include:

  • Goal setting
  • Making and maintaining behavior changes
  • Motivation techniques
  • The role of preventive medicine
  • Knowing what your medical results mean
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Managing stress

Nutrition Education
Three delicious and heart-healthy meals are prepared daily during your stay and eaten in the Cookery, a private dining room and demonstration kitchen. To help you lose weight, fat and calorie contents are carefully monitored by Kathy Duran-Thal, RDN, the program’s registered dietitian. Participants with food preferences or allergies can be accommodated. Topics and activities include:

  • Nutrition counseling
  • Creating a balanced diet
  • Eating for weight loss
  • Preparing healthy meals at home
  • Dining out excursion
  • How to order off a menu wisely
  • Shopping smart tips
  • Culinary demonstrations
  • Supplement Recommendations

Physical Activity
We make sure you are moving each day during your Cooper Healthy Living experience. You will enjoy a wide variety of group classes and receive one-on-one training sessions, as well as have access to the award-winning Cooper Fitness Center. Take a walk on the one-mile outdoor track, play tennis, swim in one of two heated pools, bask in the whirlpool or sauna, or join a yoga, Pilates or indoor cycling class. Program topics and activities include:

  • Exercise for weight loss
  • Personalized strength training
  • Diversified exercise classes
  • How to avoid injuries
  • Fitness walking
