Comprehensive Exam Procedures and Guidelines


A preventive comprehensive examination is recommended annually. Cooper Clinic exams are based on individual needs, family history, age, and gender, and range in price from $2,800 to $5,000.

Flexible sigmoidoscopy Physician's discretion; age 40+, every five years
Pap smear Females: annually or at physician's discretion
HPV (human papillomavirus) Females: at physician's discretion

Resting EKG* Annually
Treadmill or stationary cycle stress test* Annually
Laboratory Analysis
Comprehensive lab testing (physician preference)*
TSH; Chem. 16; Lipid Profile; CBC; UA; Occult Blood Test; Ferritin; RPR; ESR; Homocysteine; hs-CRP; Vitamin D; and TPSA

TPSA for males 40+
Medical Screening
Body composition (underwater weighing & skinfold measurements) Annually
Body composition (skinfold measurements only) Annually
Hearing Annually
Pulmonary/spirometry Annually

Multi-Detector Computed Tomography (MDCT) Scan Males: baseline at 40
Females: baseline at 40-50
As clinically indicated thereafter
Chest X-ray Baseline and follow up at physician's discretion
Lung CT Smokers: annually
Non-smokers: physician's discretion
Digital mammogram Females: baseline at age 35-39; age 40+, annually
Osteoporosis screen/bone density Females: baseline at 35, then every five years until menopause or age 50; age 50+, every two years unless clinically indicated
Males: baseline at 60, as clinically indicated thereafter
Dermatology
Skin cancer screening Annually

FAA certification: Class I, II, III
