Dr. DeFina is a Cooper Clinic staff physician. She attended Northwestern University for pre-medical course work and earned a medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine. In 1987, Dr. DeFina began her residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and worked there through the completion of her fellowship in 1991. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society, and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. DeFina served in the U.S. Army from 1983 to 1995 earning the rank of major. Her medical interests include cardiovascular risk management and geriatric health issues.
